Fishing was a little tough today, but that's what you get with bright skies, low clear water. But persistence pays off today... the fish are there, just had to figure out what & where they wanted to eat. Slower deep holding water from the middle to end of tailouts was the key today as were more natural colored flies. We put a full day on and landed 9 fish, but every fish was feisty strong a the end of the line and fought much harder than their size indicated. Average size was 14-16" (mostly rainbows) with a couple browns pushing the 20" range. Amid the pandemic, the Craig Ranch provided a much needed escape and an enjoyable day on the water (day started at 10AM and we wrapped up about 4:30). Of note, this is the 2nd trip on the Craig Ranch in the past week. Last weekend under cloudy more off color water the fishing was more consistent and provided a great late afternoon excursion... about a dozen fish were brought to hand, rainbows were predominant this day with the average fish in the 14-16" range along with one over 20" and a few smaller browns in the 12-14" range. Was on the water from 2:30 til 6:30 this day.
