Fishing the Animas River in Durango
Sisson Water – Two for One

Sisson Water
Fish the Animas River in Durango on two properties for the price of one!
Fishing the Animas River in Durango on this property is a unique experience. Sisson Water is a collection to two properties along the southern most section of the Animas River in Colorado. In fact, the southern property borders the New Mexico line. Within these two properties are slow pools, riffles, deep pockets, and trenched banks all holding a healthy population fish looking to prey on morning hatches, evening caddis, or streamers.
As the Animas moves towards the New Mexico line the topography changes to red rocks and beautiful sandstone desert settings. The Animas River at Sisson Water’s northern property is fed by a natural spring from the private property just to the north. Sisson has marshes for water filtration and improves the habitat for the smaller fry and sculpins in the area. A small stream rolls out of the marsh, creating a healthy deep trench on the western side of the river where brown trout tuck into cooler water on warm summer days.
On the southern property, the owner owns both sides of the water, which includes an island in the middle that creates two stretches of river. Hoppers, terrestrials, and other bug life thrive in the lush vegetation inhabiting the river banks. We typically see large hatches April through November.
The Massive Hole is on the eastern side of the North Property, so book the combo for a full day of big trout on the line for you and your buddies.
