The Craig Ranch is home to a thriving population of large Browns and Rainbows. Fish are holding and hungry all year long. These fish are supported by an abundance of insect life with hatches coming off from warm April days through October. This extremely diverse water ranges from long riffles and cutbanks to deep holes and runs. Productive hatches range from Blue Wing Olives, Golden Stones Mayflies and Caddis. Spring and fall evenings can also be very productive with streamers and sculpins.
Between reeling in fish at the Craig’s, make sure to take a beat and enjoy the views as well. Beautiful green hills surround this riparian refuge. Big cottonwoods flank the freestone river and are set ablaze with color as fall settles on the valley. Book your next day of angling here at Craig Ranch, take in the views and let out some line to experience the best of what the Animas River has to offer.
