Cooking Fresh Mountain Trout

Published on October 20, 2018 by Christian Barnes

One of my favorite aspects in the benefits of enjoying the outdoors and all the bounty if can provide is cooking and eating fresh healty fish, game, mushrooms, berries and nuts. Prior to the start of the snows in the high country my good friend and I were granted access to an amazing property in the Colorado High Country to fish an amazing lake filled with native cutthroat and rainbow trout. While the weather was a bit cold and wet, we made multiple trips to fill our Yeti coolers so we could smoke, fillet and bake the best mountain fresh water fish in the West.

Now the freezer is full of healthy smoked trout fillets which will provide healthy options for the winter. Along with venison and small game I harvested earlier in the fall my diet should be sustained mostly on wild game and fish.

I have a number of amazing recipies which I’d be happy to share with our customers so please don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you’d like to share in my secrets.
